St. Philomena – Catholic Art Print – Archival Quality black and white 6 inches around the 11x14In 1802, some reconstruction work was being done to the tomb of St. Priscilla in her catacombs in Rome when the workers discovered a previously unknown ancient burial vault. The tomb had an inscription, Pax Tecum Filumena Peace be with you, Philomena. It contained the bones of an adolescent girl. The tiles of her tomb showed Christian symbols: two anchors, three arrows, a palm leaf, and a lily. The first three symbols of martyrdom, the last of purity.
